The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a volunteer group that works hard to make Longfellow Elementary the best it can be for students, families, and teachers.  Longfellow PTO sponsors events, gives out awards, and purchases items for students and teachers.  In past years, we have been able to purchase Chromebook charging cabinets/carts for several grade levels at Longfellow and help in purchasing new playground equipment.  PTO is fully funded by fundraisers and donations.  Your membership gives you the opportunity to vote at PTO meetings and shows your child that you are involved in their education.  There will also be many volunteer opportunities throughout the school year as well.

Ways to Help Longfellow
There are some things you can do at home to help Longfellow raise funds to help with events and extras for the kids! Some of the different programs are: 1) Box Tops for Education - Download the app and scan your receipts - there are no box tops to clip off anymore! 2) Labels for learning - Buy Our Family products at our local grocery stores and clip the Our Family labels from the products and bring them into the school office! Each label saved earns 5 cents for Longfellow and every little bit helps! 3) Loaves for Learning with Pan O Gold - clip the labels from Village Hearth and Country Hearth products and bring them into the school office! 4) MORE Rewards - Log into your MORE Rewards and get points for purchasing participating name brand items from Cashwise and Marketplace Foods! When you purchase products from brands like Food Club, Top Care, Paws, Full Circle and many more, you earn points and those points are turned into cash for our school! 5) Little Bites partnered with Terracyle - Turn Trash into Cash - bring in empty wrappers from any Little Bites product and we can send them in to earn cash for the school! Breakfast $2.25 = Student $3.00 = Adult Lunch $3.00 = Student $4.10 = Adult

Students may get seconds but a parent has to fill out an approval form that the kitchen staff keeps on file. Seconds are charged at the adult prices.

COLD WEATHER CRITERIA

We use temperature and wind chill to make the determination on outside recess. If the air temperature is -5°F or colder or the wind chill is -15°F or colder students stay inside for recess. Proper winter attire should be sent with students daily. If children are well enough to attend school, they will go out for recess unless a written excuse is provided by a doctor.
